Officer Job Descriptions

President/co-presidents

Communicate to parents and teachers on behalf of the PTO:

  • Maintain calendar of PTO events with Co-President #1

  • Communicate PTO news and events to Donner Trail staff and families with Co-President #1.

  • Ensure that PTO is fulfilling its responsibilities with Co-President #1.

  • Set PTO meeting agendas and email to officers and teachers 10 days prior to meeting. Rotate every other meeting with Co-President #1.

  • Chair PTO meetings. Rotate every other meeting with Co-President #1.

  • Work with Co-President #1 and Officers to oversee long term planning.

  • Plan and assist with Back to School Night, Open House, Beach Day.

  • Recruit volunteers.

  • Plan and Oversee Thanksgiving Dinner with Co-President #1

Vice-President

Assist the Co-Presidents with tasks as needed.

  • Music Program

    • Assistance to Principal and/or Music Teacher as needed

  • Kindergarten Program

    • Update annual K program contract

    • Communicate with Kinder Coordinator as needed.

    • Supply monthly bills and collect payments to hand off to treasurer.

  • Harvest of the Month

    • Secure Volunteers

    • Renew annually with Tahoe Forest

  • Art

    • Explore Art Program if teachers desire.

  • Oversee the Annual Nelson Nordic Challenge

  • Manage PTO student program contracts.


Secretary

  • Record and distribute meeting minutes within 10 days of PTO meetings·

  • Maintain electronic files of minutes and other organizational documents

Treasurer

Make regular deposits

  • Write checks

  • Reconcile Bank of America account; Maintain Quicken file

  • Prepare annual budget

  • Report at PTO Meetings

  • Oversee Thanksgiving Dinner Cashiers, money collection, etc.
